argh! i upgraded to the new version of blogger and have had more than a leetle difficulty updating my pubcrim site with michelle inderbitzin. we'll figure it out eventually, but one more iteration of We're sorry, but we were unable to complete your request will put me over the edge. has anyone else run into such problems?

I continue to avoid upgrading, as I'm sure there is no way I am going to be able to get my template looking anything close to right without spending upwards of a day on it.
I didn't upgrade but I had enough trouble starting from scratch with the new version--including a large load of those messages you mentioned. I think Jeremy's right though--I've spent a lot of time just doing very simple things like adding the the post labels to the bottom of the posts (should be simple--but for some reason it doesn't work for everyone--as can be discovered in the support boards--but te solution cannot!). Bottom line: Every forced "upgrade" will make your life worse.
