Chris Uggen's Blog: low

Friday, February 23, 2007

if you like some blank on your canvas and spaces between your notes, you might connect with low, the minimalist slowcore trio from duluth.

i can't help but see the terrible beauty of lake superior in winter when i hear low. and, truth be told, i can't help but envision alan and mimi, a loving mormon couple carving their initials deeper into the indie music tree with each successive album.

by all reports, their forthcoming drums and guns will rank among low's best. if you hurry, you can be among the first 60 people to catch a raw video or studio audio of the band's breaker. if you give the video a minute and 39 seconds, perhaps you'll feel it too.

I was really underwhelmed by "The Great Destroyer," but I admit it's the only album of theirs I've heard. My friends, who swear by Low, insist that I picked up the wrong album by them, and that everything else is quite good.
