run happy was the message of the day at the
twin cities marathon, but some of us were really battling. there was great live music almost every mile and the cities looked beautiful today. still, it was
dang hot for an october morning in minnesota. i'm recovering slowly and starting to rethink my (non)training regimen. this was about the slowest of my twenty marathons, but i still felt pretty good about finishing today. i placed 2681 of 7215 finishers, or
slightly out of the prize money. more importantly, however, i managed to keep my sorry carcass off the meat wagon for another year -- they were circling like vultures after mile 21...

Congratulations. Four-thirty is certainly respectable; more important, you still have your menisci.
Congrats, Chris. Even if it was steamy, at least you fared better than the Chicago Marathon runners. It sounds like that was very unpleasant, to say the least.
thanks, jay and dave. i saw a lot of EMTs and fallen runners here as well, which effectively deterred me from pushing too hard. at this point, reasonably good health and intact menisci are probably the best i can hope for.
Wow, congratulations! You did very well. I heard the tragic news about Chicago's marathon...good thing to pace oneself in that kind of heat.
