you could teach a course in juvenile delinquency...

i've been visiting sara wakefield at uc-irvine the past couple days, where i've enjoyed sunny california weather, a fun presentation, and some terrific conversations about public criminology.
this is just the restorative i needed before embarking on a busy spring semester. as bob's big boy makes clear, i'll begin teaching my undergrad delinquency course next week, with a great new teaching assistant on board.

Whoa! How did you do the sign?
well, first i got this big ladder and a bunch of letters from the hardware store. then i drove out to the old big boy off highway 52 and went to work one morning before the breakfast rush.
only later did i realize that i could have accomplished the same thing using one of those newfangled online sign generators (http://www.redkid.net/generator/bigboy/).
See, now, to the literal reader it looks like you and Sarah are the All-You-Can-Eat special...
BTW, that's about the last Bob's Big Boy around. According to the company's website, there are 12 in California. Growing up, I recall about 12 in Anaheim alone, and my family would visit each one at least once during the month. I ate breakfast at the one on the corner of State College and Orangethorpe (I think...) the morning after my now husband kissed me for the first time when I was 16. That wouldn't happen again for another 7 years. Ah, Big Boy!
sweet story, amy. i seem to recall a big boy on madison's park street. long gone now, i'd wager. i bet you could pick up an old sign for $200 at an auction, though. it might make a perfect anniversary present...
