79 and 83
despite their 3-2 opening day victory, i just can't see my beloved twins getting past 80 wins with the current starting rotation. though i'm usually much more optimistic, i'm gonna call it at 79 this year, with high hopes for the 2009 season. i mean, we lost our number 1 (santana), 2 (garza), and 3 (silva) starters.that said, how can you not love the twins? we've got a fine new slugger, a cozy li'l downtown ballpark under construction, and a sidearmin' local-boy vegan blogger, who clearly knows his place in the local boy baseball firmament.

I'm not too optimistic about the pitching either, but Gomez has got to make you just a little optimistic. So far Mauer has gotten to the plate once with no one on base...and then considering the Twins only strand about 75% of their base-runners, that means we're going to get at least one run a game.
And as sad as I am to see Garza go, this marks the first time in my life that I can recall them traing pitching for hitting, so you have to appluad it on a certain level
hey woz, we both take the long view, so we're cool with the personnel decisions. manager gardenhire is far more flexible than t.k., so he'll adapt just fine to the speed/power game, now that we lack the arms n' gloves to do the twins ol' pitching/defense thing. it should be a fun year...
